The Democratic Republic of Congo recorded approximately 26 million cases of malaria and 30,000 deaths in 2025.

The Deputy Director of the National Malaria Control Program (PNLP), Dr. Guy Esebe Dembo, announced these figures during the launch of a mass antimalarial drug administration campaign in Ituri. Malaria remains the country’s main public health challenge, with Plasmodium falciparum as the predominant species.

The need to strengthen existing interventions and explore new strategies tailored to local realities to reduce the burden of the disease is emphasized.
